| Author/Date | Signing problem with GnuPG |
| Andrew 06/05/2025 4:48am | Same problem occurs in scribe v.2.4 and 3.11.
GnuPG (2.4.5) is installed and works fine with another mailer (I tested it with Becky! 2.81) When I send emails with only encryption, the process is successful and the recipient receives correctly encrypted emails. ![]() When I try to sign an email with the user's existing private gpg key, I get the error: Invalid user ID. ![]() ![]() When I want to send an email with the sender's public key, the process is successful and the recipient receives an email with the correct sender's public key. So the problem is to get the private key from the gpg keyset. Becky! mailer calls gpg during signing with a pair of username and user-email parameters (then a gpg application window pops up, which does not happen in Scribe). ![]() How does it work in Scribe? I made several gpg keys with different usernames (and the same user email address) and nothing changed. I also tried changing the usernames in all corresponding fields in Scribe and nothing changed either. Can you suggest something? What else can I do to diagnose and fix the problem? |

| Andrew 07/05/2025 11:14pm | Hello again,
the problem is solved, I downgraded GnuPG 2.4 to 1.4.23 and now all is working correctly, still using keys produced by GPG 2.4. Regards, A.M. |
| Andrew 08/05/2025 3:58am | Unfortunately not :(
With GPG 1.4.23 I can only sign messages, and with GPG 2.4.5 I can only encrypt messages, I'm still looking for the solution to sign and encrypt e-mails simultaneously. --A.M. |

| Andrew 08/05/2025 3:46pm | Thank you, I'll look for a solution myself and let you know if I find anything. --A.M. |
| memecode 17/07/2025 11:30am | FYI there are a whole bunch of fixes in v3.14 for GnuPG issues. Please try that and report back on how it goes.
(And sorry it took so long) |
