| I just thought I'd mention this ongoing offer to everyone, as most people wouldn't know about it. If anyone does a significant amount of translation work for Scribe I give them a license for InScribe for free, as a thankyou for all the effort you put in.
If your interested in doing translation work I've put together some information to help.
Finally, what constitutes a "significant amount"? you ask... well either a new language, or an update of a translation that has fallen into disrepair (i.e. one of: Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, French or Italian).

Unfortunately I don't know any of the above-mentioned languages (-( But, and this one thing I have been considering seriously: how much would it take to translate (part of) the help-files? Since I have been spreading the word about Scribe among my friends, they sometimes call me for help. I live in the Netherlands and though most Dutch claim they speak (squeak?) English, for John Doe English help may still be a problem. Basic things like sending, receiving, new contact for instance.
So, Matthew, what do you think of all this?

| Bardo: It's a nice idea but on a technical level I'd have to find some clean way of keeping the data in the help files together. You can't, it seems, have 1 html file that will display different text depending on the language selected in the browser. (Gee that would be too easy wouldn't it?)
So unless I want to move all the help text into an lr8 file and then write some sort if help tool that mixes a template and the lr8 file at runtime to generate the final displayable help... which sounds like a lot of work. (But also fun)
Does any one know of a multilingual markup language? |

In fact I translate the same strings in every release, so if you want to be fair...you must give me your house :)
As I told you before, you can copy portuguese translation to brazilian portuguese (and vice-versa) if you see that one of them is too old. It's the same language (like english and english-us)
About the help, I already had the intention of translating it. I saw one of these days a freeware to do just that: translate html files. The files could have exactely the same name, and the download could be optional (maybe from a link in Scribe itself). |

| I agree with the problem on the technical level. But does Carlos have a point: create a link in the program to your website and download the translated files? Of course that might still be too difficult for the illiterates, but since I was supposed to help them anyway, I can give them something to rely on when I am sleeping and they are not :-)
I don't know anything about a multilingual markup language, sorry for that.

| I've updated LgiRes with a new build that includes a search tool:
One of the features of the search is that it can show you all the untranslated strings. The usefulness of which makes it much easier to "complete" a translation. And find new strings that have been recently added and therefor not yet translated. |

Just a suggestion: the column with "Text" (translation missing) is not very helpful for me, as it's obviously empty, but the selected "In this language only" could be handy. As an example, there are always words that almost no one needs to translate, like "Ok" or "...".
But it's easier, anyway :) |
