Author/Date Major crash - unable to delete offending email

I received a stupid HTML SPAM message, which when deleted caused iScribe to crash. Subsequently every time I re-load iScribe the offending email is still in the inbox. So when I try to delete it, it crashes iScribe again. This is with Test19. I'll try it with the debug symbols version of 20 and see what happens.

The crash log is :

I managed to delete the email using 19 before I could try the symbols version of 20.

I ran into something like this and fixed it for test20. I wonder whether it was the message itself or something up with the folders.

I've had reports that the trash folder can get corrupted and cause Scribe to crash when you delete things. Another user is hopefully following that up - I've given them a special trace build to try.

Anyway if you get a crash with test20-symbols I'd be more than happy to look at it.

I've fixed a couple of issues that could have been the cause of this problem. I'd be interested to hear how well test21 handles this mail.

Hi,

I hope somebody can help me here, as I have read the above thread and it seems to be the same problem I am having, but I don't have the tech know-how to set this right by myself.

I'm not sure if I deleted the guilty email in question, or if it is still in my inbox and open, but whichever the case, I am now getting the following message each time I try to open iScribe..

________________________________________________________________________________
Unhandled Exception
Code: c0000005

004BE97A: C:\Program Files\Scribe\Scribe.exe Offset: 0x2CA54 (Calendar::GetView)
------------------------------------------------------------------

Every time I click on one of the button in the message window, iScribe crashes and when I now try to open it I keep getting the error message and iScribe keeps crashing!

For what it is worth, I am running iScribe on Windows XP Pro, Ver 5.1.2600 SP 3 Build 2600. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance..

Hi again,

I just installed Test 22 and it's still the same as before..getting the same error message as posted below showing up both on screen and in the crash data file.

Any ideas on how to work around this so as to save emails and groups already stored in the program?

I just downloaded the earliest version of iScribe and installed it, then copied the folders.mail2 folder over to it's root directory. Then when I opened it, all the folders showed up on the left, but I had to rename them all, which allowed me to rename the inbox to "inbox2" and then copy all the other mails over to the new "inbox" folder, leaving the offending email and one other in the old folder.

I am now left with two inboxes, but at least I can use the program as long as I don't open the "inbox2" folder. It's not great, but it will have to do for now until somebody can post here a work-a-round that will right this issue completely.

Hope this is of some help to others who might find themselves in the same situation.

All the best for now..

Dan
